Mount Pleasant Home Damaged After Fire

Fire crews in Isabella County are trying to figure out what started a fire in a home under construction.

Crews got the call around 8 about smoke coming from the house.

It happened on Woods Way and Betsey Lane near Mount Pleasant.

Firefighters say when they got there the second floor and attic were burning.

The family wasn’t home. They’ve been living somewhere else as crews worked on their house.

The assistant chief says the home is damaged and will take a lot to repair.

"No firefighters were injured we didn’t have any occupants in the home so from that stand point it was very good. But there was a lot of damage and there is a devastating effect for the homeowner but it could have been much worse and it wasn’t," said Michael Dunham.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
