Driver in Leelanau Co. Deadly Accident Had Elevated Levels Of THC

The Leelanau County sheriff received blood test results in connection to a crash that killed three people.

The crash happened two weeks ago on South Manitou Trail between Schomberg and Overby Road.

A car with five people inside veered off the road and hit a tree.

Three people died.

The sheriff’s office says Brian Surhigh, the driver, had elevated levels of THC in his system.

The investigation into the crash is now closed.
