Grand Traverse County Commissioner Admits To Driving While Intoxicated

A Grand Traverse County commissioner has admitted to driving while intoxicated.

Last month, Traverse City police arrested Grand Traverse County commission chairwoman Christine Maxbauer.

They say Maxbauer was driving with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

Monday, Maxbauer pleaded guilty to one count of operating while intoxicated.

Maxbauer’s attorney requested that sentencing also happen on Monday.

She was sentenced to 12 months on probation. 

Maxbauer will not be allowed to consume alcohol while on probation. She will also have to submit to daily breath tests and complete community service.

She will also have to pay more than $400 in fines and costs.
