Upper Peninsula Prisoner Caught After Escape Accused of Armed Robbery, Holding A Hostage

New details on the prison inmate who escaped and was caught near Newberry last week.

Police say Alize Montague held a hostage during the escape, and is also charged with armed robbery.

He got out of the Newberry Correctional Facility on August 16.

Officers caught him about an hour and 15 minutes later.

It’s unclear who he reportedly held hostage during the escape, or who was robbed.

The Luce County prosecutor says Montague was caught while trying to get into a car near the prison.

He’s now looking at life in prison.
