Tribes Join National Wildlife Federation’s Lawsuit Against Oil Pipeline Agency
New developments about a controversial oil pipeline running beneath the Straits of Mackinac.
The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians are fighting back against Enbridge.
The National Wildlife Federation filed a lawsuit back in May and the tribes recently joined.
Enbridge’s Line 5 transports oil through Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas, and under the Straits.
NWF and now the tribes ask the court to stop the transport of this oil until regulations comply with federal law.
