A local hair salon is giving back, right before school starts.
Studio 415 Salon gave kids free haircuts Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
The Traverse City salon started this event last August as a way to give back to the community.
The turnout was more than expected last year, so they decided to do it again.
Each child got school supplies, along with the opportunity to have their face painted.
“We did it just as a way for our group to do something involved in the community where we could give back a little bit and we thought it would be really great timing right before school,” says Studio 415 Salon owner Leslie Winkle.
The salon says the response from families in the community is what keeps them going.
They hope to continue this program for years to come.
