Hook & Hunting: Hunter Education

Fall hunting season is right around the corner and it’s never too early to sign up for hunter education programs.

Places like the Carl T. Johnson Center in Cadillac are already holding hunting courses this month.

They can be taken online, in a home-study or inside a classroom.

The DNR says the sooner people take the courses, the better.

"But the reason it’s a good time is because our fall hunting are right around the corner. So maybe you didn’t want to sign up through the summer because of all the different sports camps and family vacations you had so now you are getting back into the swing of things. With school and fall not so far away it’s a great time to do it,” says DNR wildlife technician, Katie Keen.

The cost to participate is $10.
