San Diego Police In Standoff After Deadly Officer Shooting

San Diego police have surrounded a house near Thursday night’s gun battle that left one officer dead.

Officers are urging a man to come out of the house.

A second man is in custody.

The standoff started hours after a traffic stop where two officers were shot.

Police pulled someone over around 11 p.m., and officers almost immediately called for back-up.

Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman says responders took one of the wounded officers to the hospital, where he died.

The second officer is expected to live, but Zimmerman says it will be a long recovery.
