A new lure is helping anglers reel in that perfect bass this summer.
Its call a football jig lure.
The unique head shape is a big help for catching small and Largemouth Bass as well as Pike.
The added weight to the jig gets down to bass quickly and hooks onto the fish better than other lures.
Bait shops say anglers are hoping to purchase the new lures because of its versatility.
“The nice thing about the jig is you can use a skirt on it. It comes in a variety of colors, whatever. There’s thirty some different colors of your choice. It’s just a great, versatile lure,” says Crawdad’s Fish and Tackle owner Jason Crawford.
The lure is also stronger than most, so if the fish throws itself against rocks the lure can withstand it.
