Chippewa County Man Arrested for Armed Kidnapping

A man in Chippewa County was arrested after deputies say he kidnapped a woman after holding her and her husband at gun point.

Chippewa County deputies say around 1:30 Saturday afternoon, a man confronted a couple in the backyard of their home on 15 Mile Road near Sault Ste. Marie.

Deputies say Michael Millette forced the couple inside their home at gunpoint, then forced the woman into his car and drove away with her.

A short time later, deputies caught up with Millette on Mackinac Trail near Rudyard where they were able to arrest him.

The victim was not hurt.

Millette now faces charges for kidnapping, assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm. 

He’s being held on a $1 million bond with tether.
