El Galeon Museum Docked in Traverse City

A floating museum is waiting to be explored in Traverse City right now.

El Galeon is making the rounds, around the world.

It’s now docked at Clinch Park Marina and open for tours.

It’s a replica of the type of ship used by the Spanish crown in the 16th to 18th centuries.

On board you’ll find historical exhibits explaining the vessel type’s history.

As well as an exhibit on current safety technology.

“Our first journey was from Spain to Shanghai and we spent six months there and then we went back to Spain and three years ago we were crossing the Atlantic from Canary Islands to Santo Domingo that was taking 27 days,” says project manager, Fernando Viota.

Tours run from 10am-7pm and cost $10.

El Galeon ships out for Chicago on Monday.
