Charges Against Detroit Man Who Served Eight Years For Murder Officially Dropped

A Detroit man, who went to prison as a teen and spent eight years behind bars for four murders, has officially had his charges dropped.

It’s a story Northern Michigan’s News Leader has followed since 2007 when then 14-year-old Davontae Sanford was accused of killing four people.

Sanford’s convictions were thrown out last month.

He was released from prison the next day.

The prosecutor said Sanford’s guilty pleas were unfounded after state police found misconduct by Detroit police, along with a confession by a hit man who says he committed the murders.
