Red Wings Street Hockey Summer Tour Coming to Meijer
The Detroit Red Wings will bring their inaugural Street Hockey Summer Tour to a trio of northern Michigan Meijer locations next week.
The free youth street hockey clinic for ages 7-12 kicks off its 10-stop tour Monday at the Acme Meijer location (4900 M-72, Williamsburg).
The tour will then continue on to the Cadillac store (8605 East 34 Road) on Wednesday and to the Mt. Pleasant location (1015 Pickard St.) on Friday.
"The Red Wings are important to us,” Acme Meijer store director John Spaulding said. “Meijer and the Red Wings are great partners together, throughout the years, and this is a great example of us partnering with them, and sharing this with the public. I think our customers can see that out there, and again this being Hockeytown 2, I think a lot of the Red Wings’ fans are going to be excited to come here and see what’s going to be happening on Monday."
Each tour stop will have two 90-minute sessions, with the first hour featuring a one-hour clinic, and concluding with a 30-minute pick-up game.
The 7-9 age group will begin at 10 a.m., with the 10-12 group starting at 1:30 p.m.
Participants will receive instruction from Red Wings representatives and local hockey coaches and players.
If a clinic is rained out, the makeup date will be the following day at the same time and location.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with each tour spot limited to 120 children (60 for each age group).
