National Cherry Festival Wraps Up
One of the biggest events Saturday at the National Cherry Festival was the Cherry Royal Parade.
The parade traveled along Front Street and was led by this year’s grand marshal–Piper the Airport Dog from Cherry Capital Airport.
Thousands of people lined downtown’s sidewalks to watch the trucks, bands and floats go by on the last day of festival events.
For many families, watching the parade together is a long-held tradition. Aaron Schurg came with his family to support Michigan State’s marching band.
“To be able to just go downtown and have a midway, and have places where you can eat great food and listen to bands come in—it all comes to you here, and it’s beautiful, so we’re really lucky,” he said.
Other events today included the cherry idol finals and ultimate air dog competition finals.
