Michigan Suing Government Over Public School Transgender Bathroom Mandate
Michigan is one of ten states suing the government over rules requiring public schools to let transgender students use bathrooms and locker rooms conforming to their gender identity.
The lawsuit was filed Friday in federal court.
Transgender individuals argue they need to be protected and respected in all public places, including bathrooms.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says every child must be provided with dignity, privacy, respect and safety, but say the federal government is overreaching it’s power.
