Traverse City Couple Asks Wedding Guests To Bring Unique Gift

One Traverse City couple turned their wedding day to an act of kindness.

The couple asked for school supply donations for Traverse Heights Elementary School students in lieu of traditional wedding gifts.

Kristy Tomczak used to work at the school and saw teachers going out of pocket to buy classroom supplies.

She says she and her husband, Vincent Tomczak, have everything they need so why not help others.

Their wedding guests were able to donate more than $600 worth of gift cards and thousands of dollars in supplies.

Kristy Tomczak says, “All of our guests loved it everybody was saying that was the most meaningful wedding gift that they’ve ever bought. Many families went with their kids to the store and have the girls or their children pack up backpacks full of supplies.”

They hope this inspires other couples to give back to their communities.
