Increase of Missing Cats and Dogs After Noisy Holiday Weekend

While Fourth of July weekend was filled with excitement and celebration this time of year can be a little frightening for our pets.

The loud boom of fireworks is always a scare for cats and dogs, but this weekend with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels practicing and performing there was even more loud noise.

It can cause a dog or cat to run away, some cats can be gone up to two weeks.

Missing pets mean a busy week for local shelters and humane societies.

Linda Gottwald, Director of Great Lakes Humane Society says, “We’ve had calls one lady from Manistee, a couple local people from Kingsley, Traverse City they lost their pet they don’t know where to start.”

If your pet is lost call your local humane society and check your county’s lost pet Facebook page.
