Grand Traverse County Candidates Prepare For Open Forum

Candidates running for local offices are getting ready to face questions from voters.

The Grand Traverse Veterans Coalition is putting the finishing touches on a candidate forum.

On Thursday, people running for county commission, 104th District State Representative Seat and First Congressional District candidates will answer questions.

The forum is expected to last three hours.

People will be able to hear what candidates have to say before they head to the primary polls in August.

Hot button questions were submitted beforehand.

"We are going to ask questions that are, we would like to think, on everyone’s mind," explains Beau Vore of the Grand Traverse Area Veteran Coalition. "Questions such as taxes, road mileage, and right here in Kingsley we have the Pugsley Correctional Facility shutting down, so that’s going to be a question."

Thursday’s forum starts at 5:30 at the Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City.
