EPA: Filtered Flint Tap Water Now Safe For Everyone To Drink

The Environmental Protection Agency says it’s now safe for everyone to drink filtered tap water in Flint.

This ends the previous recommendation, which said pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under 6 should only drink bottled water to avoid lead exposure.

Thursday’s announcement is based on tests of filters that people in Flint have been using for months.

The filters remove or reduce lead.

The city’s water supply was contaminated when lead leached from old pipes at homes because the water wasn’t treated correctly.
