Former High School Football Players Pleaded Guilty To Sex Crimes

Two former high school athletes who originally pleaded no contest for sex crimes against two women at a Northern Michigan deer camp switched their pleas to guilty.

According to court records, the sex crimes took place at the Prescott Deer Camp in Ogemaw County in November 2014.

Jens Gillings and Travis Shoemaker pleaded guilty under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act under the recommendation of the prosecutor.

They both pleaded to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

By state law, someone assigned to that act could be required to keep a job and continue higher education.

Due to the act, the terms of the sentence are not public.
