Court Ruling Returns Teacher Wages Previously Withheld from Paychecks for Retiree Healthcare

We have some good news for teachers around Michigan.

A court ruling Tuesday returns wages that were withheld from teacher’s paychecks for retiree healthcare.

Public school employees had 3% of their pay deducted for about two years under a 2010 law.

Once the law was declared unconstitutional, a new law was passed in 2012, which was upheld by the state Supreme Court.

But the state appeals court ruled Tuesday the initial salary deduction was improper.
