Lake Superior State University is celebrating 30 years of raising and releasing salmon in the St. Marys River.

A 30th anniversary program is schedule for Friday, it will include the release of this year’s nearly 37,000 salmon yearlings.

Lab officials say they hope to hear from anglers who catch the salmon that have a fin clip so they can document where the fish will end up.

The university is renovating a building at Cloverland Electric Cooperative Power Plant for a new lab on Freshwater Research and Education.
