LSSU’s Dieck places fifth in shot put at nationals

Lake Superior State’s Justin Dieck placed fifth in shot put at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship in Bradenton, Fla., with a distance of 17.42 meters.

With the top-eight finish, he earns All-America status in outdoor shot put for the first time in his career. He had earned indoor track All-America status in 2015 and 2016 with top-two finishes.

Pittsburgh State’s Garrett Appier won the event with a throw of 20.37 meters.
