Evart Businesses React to Armed Bank Robbery

Businesses that are next door to the bank are shaken up by Thursday’s armed robbery.

9&10’s Veronica Meadows spoke to one business and continues our team coverage on the armed robbery in Evart.

The Dairy Whip is a local restaurant that sells ice cream, burgers and other food.

The restaurant is also right next door to the First Merit Bank that got robbed on Thursday.

Workers at the Dairy Whip say they had no idea anything was wrong.

Megan Seelag came to work after getting out school, when she saw the police cars by the bank.

At the time she didn’t know what had happened.

Learning about the robbery made her feel uneasy since the parking lot for her work is directly next to where everything happened.

“What’s going through my head is what if they were going to come here and steal our money or try to shoot us,” says Megan Seelag. “Because of how close it was they could have just come right down here afterwards.”

Businesses in the area are thankful the suspects are in police custody.
