Clare County Crash Kills One Woman, Injures Three Others
A family is in mourning after a mother and Army veteran died in a crash just moments after burying her brother.
Carol Bradley is from Texas, but was in Clare County for her brother’s funeral.
Troopers say a driver didn’t stop at South Lake Station Avenue and West Maple Grove Road, hitting Bradley’s truck as she was leaving the cemetery.
She was pronounced dead the scene.
Two of her family members were also in the truck and had to be taken to the hospital.
The driver of the car that hit them was also hurt.
Now troopers say the driver of that car may have been on drugs.
We reached out to Carol Bradley’s niece in Africa. She says the continued tragedy is devastating.
“I think the best way to describe this is numb, because you don’t expect this. She just left the cemetery from burying her brother. So it’s been kind of difficult to even digest,” says Kathryn Ablerlich. “She was a retired Army veteran. Her youngest child was going to be graduating high school in just two, maybe three weeks. It’s tragedy on top of tragedy. Now to find out the potential of drugs being involved in this is just really heartbreaking."
The other family members involved in the crash are expected to be OK.
State police have not released the name of the possibly drugged driver.
