Rapid City First Grader Diagnosed with Two Types of Leukemia
A Northern Michigan community is coming together to help a little girl with her battle with cancer.
Naomi Wilke was recently diagnosed with two different types of leukemia.
Along with chemotherapy treatments, she has had multiple platelet and blood transfusions.
While she’s still at DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, the Kalkaska community is hosting a dinner and silent auction this Friday to support Naomi and her family.
"Any sort of donations that they can get would be great. I know there are going to be medical expenses, and a lot of traveling for, you know, at least a couple years where she’ll have to keep traveling down to DeVos for chemo treatments and stuff," said Rapid City Elementary School Teacher Rebecca Haughn.
The event is this Friday, May 20 at the Many Rivers Church in Kalkaska from 5 to 8 p.m.
