Lake County Deputies Searching for Armed Robbery Suspect
This robber is still on the loose tonight after holding up a gas station at gunpoint.
Deputies say the person had a gun and forced a store employee to hand over cash from the store’s safe.
They don’t know how much money the robber got away with.
The armed robbery happened around 4:00 Sunday morning at the Wesco gas station in Baldwin in Lake County.
This is the person lake county deputies need help finding. They robbed this gas station at gunpoint. The robber described as white, between 5’ 7” and 5’ 8” and between 140 and 150 pounds. They were wearing all black clothes and a motorcycle helmet.
“Somebody out there knows this person, weather it’s a local or somebody from out of town. Just to get this out and hopefully someone will recognize something on this individual,” said Lake County Sheriff Dennis Robinson.
The robber came in through the front door and locked it before taking money at gunpoint. They left out the back door. A k-9 unit lost a scent after about a block. All this happening during one of the busiest weekends of the year for Baldwin.
“It was biker weekend and business was good, so any business even if they do a drop every night, the next day still is pretty profitable for them. So whoever decided to do this probably took advantage of the weekend knowing that there’s be high receipts,” said Robinson
People working nearby hope this person is caught quickly.
“For them to be robbed in the middle of something that’s supposed to be good, just puts a negative damper on things this time of year. It happened, we keep our eye on the lookout for things, and obviously we don’t want this type of thing going on. We’re not far away so we try out best to just keep moving and stay positive and just keep our eyes open,” said Keturah Davis who works nearby.
