Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa Indians Receive Grant to Improve Boardman River

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa Indians will get a grant to help improve a local river.

The DNR announced Friday that they’ll grant $65 thousand toward monitoring the Boardman River Dam removal project.

The money will be used to rehabilitate aquatic resources including the fishery of the Boardman.

It was one of six projects granted money raised from hunting and fishing licenses.

The Jordan River restoration in Antrim County got $200 thousand.

And Free Span the Maple River Initiative got more than $400 thousand.
