Trooper Involved in Beaverton Crash Was Responding To Trooper In Distress

Northern Michigan’s News Leader is learning more about what led up to a crash involving a state trooper and a van that damaged a building.

The crash happened last Friday night when a trooper lost control of his cruiser.

He was responding to a call when he hit a van on south M-18 in downtown Beaverton.

Investigators say it started when another trooper called for back-up after a young person attacked him.

The attack sent the trooper to the hospital for treatment, and was released.

State police say the crash is still under investigation, and the juvenile should be charged this week.
