Emmet County Sheriff Confirms Holes in Petoskey Apartment Caused by Bullet

"It indeed was a hole that was from a firearm," Emmet County Sheriff Pete Wallin said.

Deputies in Emmet County confirm holes in a Northern Michigan apartment were caused by a bullet.

A call came in yesterday morning from a woman who found the bullet holes in her apartment.

Melissa Shively discovered the holes going through her wall and furnace at Hillside Club Apartments in Petoskey.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office discovered bullet fragments from a rifle.

Search warrants have been served at the complex, but no arrests have been made.

The family of four is okay, but are shaken up.

Deputies say the community is not in danger.

"These kind of things can turn deadly, but fortunately, as we believe right now, no one was hurt," Sheriff Wallin said.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate to figure out what exactly happened.
