Lake City Churches Leave For Mission Trip

A different kind of spring break trip for members of some Northern Michigan churches, heading to Mississippi to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

Several local churches in the Cadillac and Lake City area leave tomorrow for a mission trip to repair houses.

Nearly 50 high school students and around 20 adults will participate in the week-long trip.

It started in the 1980’s as a way to give back.

Now the group goes every year.

A trip coordinator says helping people makes the effort worthwhile.

"They go and try it out and they got like I did with my oldest child because he wanted to go and he wasn’t in high school yet. And you just get pulled into it and it’s something that you enjoy doing and you just keep doing it," said Dennis Anderson.

The group will leave tomorrow after the kids get out of school.

They hope to complete at least 10 projects.
