New Amendments Will Allow Traverse City Movie House Marquee to Flash

A movie theater in Traverse City will soon be getting a little flashier.

This week, city commissioners approved amendments to a local marquee and electronic sign ordinance, allowing the solid marquee lights on the Bijou by the Bay movie house to flash.

Traverse City Film Festival Executive Director Deb Lake says the approval means they can fire up the flashing marquee when the amendments go into effect on March 31st.

The flashing marquee previously ran during last summer’s film festival.

The theater is located along the waterfront in Traverse City.
