Sightseeing in Northern Michigan: Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know

Sometimes, you never know who you might run into at a local cafe or book store.

“I really thrive on being in an environment where there’s a lot of activity, so I’ve always gone to cafes and places where there’s lots of people. The noise doesn’t bother me, for some reason it actually helps, it keeps me stimulated and keeps me awake,” says Adam Bray.

Adam Bray started out as a travel writer. He has around 40 books to his name, but it was his love of Star Wars that led him down a different path.

“My first book about Star Wars was What Makes A Monster. It’s about the creatures of the Star Wars universe, and that was a good jumping in point for me because I have a background in environmental biology working with animals,” Adam tells us.

After Adam’s first Star Wars book, his publisher started to give him more complicated books to do, which has led him to Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know.

“It’s kind of a trivia fact book about Star Wars. It goes into all the really novel information, the funny stuff, the obscure things,” says Adam.

If you like to dissect the Star Wars films, you’ll love this book.

“In this book we have anything from the strange things that Jabba the Hut likes to eat, we’ve got restaurant menus from The Cantina in the original Star Wars movie. You’ve got back stories on some of the characters like the Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels and how he’s trained by Darth Vader to hunt the Jedi in the original trilogy era,” explains Adam.

And even poor Chewie.

“Chewie in the original trilogy, he doesn’t get a lot of respect. They call him a fur ball and ‘this thing’,” Adam tells us.

Last weekend, Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know was nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award. You may recognize some of his competition.

“JK Rowling’s Harry Potter book, and Hunger Games, and Maze Runner, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, so there’s some stiff competition,” explains Adam.

Even though Adam and his co-authors didn’t win, you still might see Adam typing away at his favorite places around Northern Michigan.

“I’ve worked on these Star Wars books harder than anything in my life, but that’s because I love it,” says Adam.
