Mancelona Public School Bus Rollover Accident Sends Two People To Hospital

Two people suffered minor injuries when a Mancelona Public School bus rolled into the ditch.

It happened around 7:15 Friday morning on S.E. Torch Lake Drive in Alden in Antrim County.

The driver lost control on a curve and the bus rolled into the ditch and came to a rest on its side on an embankment.

Students exited the bus through the rear emergency door.

The Antrim County sheriff says the driver and a 15-year-old student were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

According to the sheriff, a dozen students were on the bus at the time.

The other students were taken to school by parents and another bus.

Sheriff Dan Bean says 62-year-old Ronald Davis has been a school bus driver for a couple years.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.

The sheriff’s office is working with the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier to investigate the cause of the accident.

If they find anything with the driver at fault, they could press charges.
