Michigan Tax Refunds May Require Identity Confirmation Quiz

People receiving Michigan tax refunds may need to do more than just file a return.

In an attempt to protect tax payers from identity theft, the Treasury Department will send some taxpayers a letter asking them to confirm their identity by taking a short online quiz.

If the person’s identity is confirmed, refunds will be released within 14 to 21 days.

Treasurer Nick Khouri says this is an effective way to stop fraud while also minimizing the impact on taxpayers.

More information on the quiz can be found .
