Warm Weather Helping Local Farmers Prepare For Their Season

Some farmers say they are taking advantage of this mild March weather.

The warmer temperatures and little to no snow on the ground allows them to get out and test their soil.

Jerry Lindquist from MSU Extension says it may not be time to start tilling, but this weather does let farmers get their land ready for the season.

He says recent rain is definitely a positive for farmers.

“We want to bank some soil moisture with rainfall and rain events like this in March are good from that standpoint.” Says agricultural educator, Jerry Lindquist.

This spring-like weather also allows farmers to make repairs to their equipment.
