Petoskey Hosts Project Connect, Helping Emmet and Charlevoix County Families

An event at the Odawa Casino in Petoskey today aims to help people with anything they need.

Project Connect is in its ninth year.

It’s a combination of Charlevoix and Emmet County businesses and non-profits offering their services for free for an entire day for people to take advantage.

They had hair cuts, clothing and other social services for people attending.

"It’s really a wonderful show of our community coming together to support each other we have 54 different nonprofit agencies here today and we have five different salons, a photographer and a lawyer so we have a lot of different people from different sectors all come together to make this happen," says Co-Chair Caitlin Koucky.

The organizers estimate close to 800 people are taking part today.

They’re able to put on the event solely from donations and sponsors.
