A top Islamic State leader is likely dead following a U.S. airstrike in northeastern Syria.

The Pentagon says Omar al-Shishani, better known as "Omar the Chechen," along with a dozen other ISIS fighters were killed, according to initial assessments.

The U.S. had a $5 million bounty on al-Shishani.

The airstrike happened last Friday.
