Fremont Woman Blames Post Office For Sister’s Damaged Remains

A Newaygo County woman is blaming the post office for her sister’s damaged remains.

Janice Martin from Fremont says her nephew shipped her sister’s ashes from California to Fremont.

When she received them, the box was punctured and some of the remains were found around the edges of the package.

The remains were in a plastic bag, canvas bag and plastic box that were sealed inside the box.

A spokeswoman for the US Postal Service’s greater Michigan district apologized, saying it’s not clear how the package was damaged.
