Michigan Senate Passes Bill Reducing Penalty For Underage Drinkers

Penalties for underage drinkers may be loosened, if it’s a first time offense.

The state Senate passed a bill Thursday making it a civil infraction instead of a misdemeanor.

A second offense would be a misdemeanor.

Minors caught with alcohol a third time would have their driver’s license suspended.

That’s already the case.

The bill now goes to the House.
