U.S. lawmakers are accusing Takata of faking test results to cover up their exploding air bag issue.

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee says the company manipulated documents from the last 12 years.

It hid data that showed problems with inflator quality.

The recall of defective Takata air bag inflators now involves 14 car makers and millions of American vehicles.
