An updated proposal seeks to designate part of the I-96 business route in Lansing in honor of a fallen firefighter.
Dennis Rodeman was hit by car in September 2015 while collecting donations for charity.
State Representative Tom Cochran of Mason initially proposed that I-496 in Lansing be named after Rodeman, but the roadway had already been designated to Ransom E. Olds, the namesake of Oldsmobile.
Cochran then updated his proposal to use the “Lansing Firefighter Dennis E. Rodeman Memorial Highway” designation.
The updated bill has been passed by the state House.
