An environmental group is threatening to sue the federal government over a Great Lakes oil pipeline.
The National Wildlife Federation is targeting Enbridge Energy’s line 5.
It runs beneath the Straits of Mackinac between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan.
Enbridge says the underwater section has never leaked and remains safe.
But environmentalists want it removed and they say the federal agency had no authority to approve oil transport.
The group says the agency didn’t assess potential effects on fish and animals.
