Head of Michigan’s Veterans Affairs Resigns After Audit Reveals Problems
Governor Rick Snyder is replacing the head of Michigan’s Veterans Affairs Agency after an audit uncovered serious issues at a state run nursing home for vets.
Jeff Barnes, who led the agency resigned on Friday.
An audit shows workers at the Grand Rapids home for veterans lied about checking on patients, did not properly investigate allegations of abuse and neglect, and took too long to fill prescriptions.
Governor Snyder calls the allegations "deeply troubling."
