Traverse City Planning Commission Discusses Long-Term Projects For City

Traverse City’s Planning Commission is reviewing capital improvement projects.

Tuesday night, Planning Director Russ Soyring presented projects that will address city needs for the next six years.

The capital plans include projects like replacing the West Front Street Bridge, Re-decking the 8th Street Bridge, Rebuilding Garland Street and the Warehouse District, and park projects.

Now it’s the commission’s job to narrow down the list.

Planning Director Russ Soyring says, “This is really major projects for the next six years and giving the sense of what are the priorities to the community, what’s the most important we can’t afford to do all the projects and so we’re going to try and figure out about which projects are the most important to the planning commission.”

The commission also discussed modifying plans to slow down residential traffic on State Street between Boardman Avenue and Railroad Avenue.
