Selma Twp Fire Crews Respond to Home of One of Their Own

Five fire departments responded to a house fire just before midnight Friday night on E. 34 Road in Selma Township, just west of Cadillac.

A firefighter for the Selma Township Fire Department lived in the home with his family, which was destroyed.

The Assistant Fire Chief, Jason Baughan, says they were the first dispatched and as they got closer they realized one of their firefighters lived there, adding their department is a close-knit family.

The firefighter, his wife and two young boys were not home when the fire broke out.

Baughan says the family lost everything in the fire. They’re hoping people can donate clothes and personal hygiene items while the family rebuilds.

If you’re interested in helping, you can contact the department through .

Baughan says the fire is still under investigation, but it looks like an electrical problem caused it.
