Boat Licensed By Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Sinks In Ludington Lake

The U.S. Coast Guard is working to recover a fishing boat that sank in Ludington.

Saturday the Coast Guard was told The Sandy, a fishing boat licensed by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, sank in a channel of Pere Marquette Lake.

At this time, they don’t know when the boat actually sank.

A marine science technician with the Coast Guard says an unknown amount of oil leaked into the water when the boat sank.

The Coast Guard is still working with the boat’s owner to determine exactly how much oil spilled into the lake.

The Coast Guard says they have placed pads into the water to help soak up the oil, and they hope to have the boat raised back up by the end of the day.
