Upper Peninsula Michigan State Police Prepare for Upcoming Winds and Snow

With those winter warnings and watches in effect in the U.P. Tuesday, Michigan State Police remind drivers to travel safely.

They say lots of people often go too fast on stretches of I-75 that get very icy.

High winds on the Mackinac Bridge are also an issue they watch for.

Police are on standby during the bad conditions.

But they recommend everyone else stays home if at all possible.

"For unnecessary travel and everything, when the weather is bad we recommend you postpone it," St. Ignace Post Sgt. Eric Bannan said.
