Kalkaska Tournament Gives Back To Community

The cold and snow didn’t stop one group of disc golfers from raising money for their community.

Saturday was the 9th annual K-Town Ice Bowl in Kalkaska, a disc golfing tournament where all proceeds go back to local organizations.

In order to compete, participants needed to bring $30 or 40 pounds of non-perishable items.

This year their goal was to raise $5,000 and 2,000 pounds of food.

The money goes to Meals on Wheels program and Food for Care, a local food pantry.

K-Town Ice Bowl Tournament Director, Eric Lucyk says, “I think that’s why a lot of the players come out. They like to be able to do something good and give back to the community.”

Eric adds the tournament continues to grow every year.

And they like to see their efforts have a positive impact on their community.
