Mackinac Bridge Back Open After Closing Due To Falling Ice

The Mackinac Bridge is now back open.

Tuesday morning, the Mackinac Bridge Authority closed northbound and southbound I-75 at the Mackinac Bridge due to falling ice from the cables and towers.

The bridge also closed on Saturday for four hours to allow ice to fall after building up on the cables a few weeks ago.

The bridge has closed for ice falling less than 10 times in the past 20 years.

The Mackinac Bridge reopened shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
